With a long history of being at the heart of the town of Renfrew, Clydeview Medical Practice is known historically as the “Parish Practice”, having been founded in 1874 by Dr William Goldie Stevens. It is the largest of the three medical practices in the historical town of Renfrew. The partnership has held on to the best traditions of family medicine while embracing important modern developments and technological advances. We are the first and only practice in our area to implement total digital access, and the first in Scotland to use the FootFall platform for managing patient demand and workflow, with nearly 90% of patient demand submitted by patients digitally. Notable doctors who have worked here include Dr Hastings Banda, who later became president of Malawi, and First World War flying ace Dr John Todd MBE.

Our well-organised and established training practice provides a rich and supportive GP training experience helping you attain the clinical and organisational competencies for the modern, independent GP. We provide medical services to over 9600 patients. Our practice has five GP partners, including one of our former GP trainees, who work alongside our Advanced Nurse Practitioners, practice nurses and health care assistant. In addition to GP trainees, we host FY2 for their GP rotation, in a friendly and supportive environment. As well as General Medical Services, we deliver a wide range of services including drug misuse clinics, provision of contraception implants, joint injections and dermoscopy. Outwith the practice, our GPs are also involved in delivering occupational medicine services and previously providing crowd doctor cover at football matches.

We are based in a modern, purpose-built health centre which opened in 2010. There is free onsite car parking and sheltered bicycle rack facility. Other services based at the health centre include Community Nurses, Phlebotomy, Pharmacy Hub, Physiotherapy, Podiatry, Social Work, Health Visitors among other clinics and services.

Sitting on the south bank of the River Clyde, just west of Glasgow, Renfrew has a population of over 22,000 and is only a few minutes from Glasgow city centre on the M8. With local engineering, aerospace and shipbuilding industries providing job opportunities, Renfrew has a growing and diverse population providing a mixed patient demographic.
