Keppoch Medical Practice is an inner city practice in an area of multiple deprivation. Statistically, the practice has the most deprived population in Scotland. We have 4 clinical partners and 1 non-clinical partner (Practice Manager) and have been a training practice for 25 years.
All of our partners are committed to general practice and to the challenges of working in a very deprived area with its numerous associated health and social problems. Dr Sambale, Lead Trainer, is committed to the promotion of deprivation-related issues on a local and national level. She has a special interest in child health and has completed the Paediatric Fellowship. Dr Rigg has special interests in respiratory medicine, cancer and pallative care through which he is involved in local and national working groups. We participate in research projects led by the University of Glasgow, NHS Education for Scotland and others, which focus on complex needs / multimorbidity and we currently have a Deep End GP Research Fellow providing clinical sessions in the practice.
The practice has a strong, well-developed sense of team working which is sustained through regular in house meetings. We ensure that our STs are involved at every level of practice activity, including management issues, and work closely with all members of the practice team.
