Educational opportunities

GP training is a fundamental part of the ethos of the practice. We offer a very supportive environment to trainees, allowing them time and space to develop the high-level skills required of a modern GP.

  • You will have the opportunity to become involved in the care of multigenerational families in a range of settings.
  • The community we serve represents all socioeconomic groups, with most coming from the more deprived groups.
  • We have a wonderful mix of cultures, with many nationalities represented by our patient group.
  • We provide care to a 50-bed nursing home and provide quality care at end of life.

We have developed relationships with local services to allow the trainees to spend time with them: local pharmacy, physiotherapy, mental health, addictions team and community garden have been involved in recent years.

We are actively involved in the local quality improvement initiatives. Trainees have the opportunity to attend the monthly cluster meetings to learn how service delivery works in practice, and to meet and develop networks with local GPs.

Advantages/Opportunities

As a trainee in the practice, you will be warmly welcomed into the team by your colleagues and patients, who are familiar with the practice's long association with training.

You will be encouraged to share your ideas for service development: we enjoy taking an innovative approach to care, especially to optimising patient access.

As a group of clinicians, we get on extremely well. We enjoy learning and sharing our knowledge and we welcome new trainees and the fresh perspective and knowledge that they bring to the practice. We have weekly clinical team meetings, with regular input from our district nurse, health visitor and pharmacy colleagues.

We are experienced in supporting trainees working less than full time.

We are 10 minutes from The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and The Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow. Our patients benefit from the world-class care and facilities that they provide.

We look forward to welcoming you.
