The Practice

We are an innovative and dynamic urban medical practice in Pollok Health Centre.  Our practice is part of the impressive Pollok Civic Realm and houses a leisure centre (including a gym and swimming pool), modern Public Library, a Nursery, Citizen’s Advice, a Stress Centre, a Community Museum and a Cafe.  We are a Deep End practice and are lucky to have a full time Links Practitioner who helps connect patients to community resources and organises teaching events for staff to allow us to be familiar with all that is on offer for our patients within our community.

Educational Opportunities

Registrars will find a rich, caring and creative teaching environment with us.  There are structured tutorials, learning events, morning coffee breaks, regular scheduled meetings including with District Nurses, Health Visitors, Pharmacists, Practice Manager and Links Practitioner.  Through the Links Project there is yoga for pain, Tai Chi and a walking group as well as visits to community resources and (pre Covid) weekly visits to the practice by organisations.  During Covid we have endeavoured to maintain, strengthen and develop connections with community initiatives.  We offer, Diabetic addiction and minor surgery clinics, which we encourage registrars to participate in.  We also host FY2 doctors and medical students.  We are committed to providing the best teaching that we can along with multiple cups of tea and the odd trip to a cafe on Friday lunchtimes.  In recent years ST3 GPST have flown to the Outer Hebrides for a few days supervised remote and rural GP placement.  An electric bike is available for use for house visits.  There is also a cycle locker for practice staff.  Team bonding is an important part of our ethos.  Team activities have included a cocktail master class, a cycling tour and meal, a summer barbecue and a taxi treasure hunt.  Our enthusiasm and commitment to training and our emphasis on teamwork hopefully translate to a high standard of care for our patients.
