2027 Process Changes

CT1 Internal Medicine Training 

  • In 2027 there will continue to be a separate IMT vacancy for applications to Scotland. Applicants will only be considered for one vacancy so they should only apply to their preferred area: Scotland OR England, Northern Ireland and Wales. 
  • The recruitment process for the Scotland vacancy will follow the same process as the rest of the UK.
  • Further information can be found in the 2027 CT1 IMT Scotland Applicant Information document which is available below.
  • All published changes to the recruitment process can be found on the UK IMT Recruitment website. 

CT1 Core Psychiatry Training 

  • In 2027 there will be a separate Core Psychiatry vacancy for applications to Scotland. Applicants will only be considered for one vacancy so they should only apply to their preferred area: Scotland OR England, Northern Ireland and Wales. 
  • The recruitment process for the Scotland vacancy will follow the same process as the rest of the UK.

ST1 Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery 

  • Self-Assessment and Interview Scoring Criteria - There have been some changes to the criteria and guidance for 2027 so applicants should consult this prior to applying.
  • MSRA – Longlisted applicants must undertake the Multi-Specialty Recruitment Assessment (MSRA). In 2027 the score from the MSRA will make up 10% of an applicant’s overall score.
  • Interviews – It will be mandatory for all candidates to setup a second device (smartphone / tablet) as a second camera for the duration of their interview  
  • Appointability – Overall score will be made up of; MSRA 10%, Shortlisting 15%, Interview 75%
