2026 Process Changes

CT1 Internal Medicine Training 

  • In 2026 there will be a separate IMT vacancy for applications to Scotland only. Applicants will only be considered for one vacancy so they should only apply to their preferred area: Scotland OR England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
  • The recruitment process for the Scotland vacancy will follow the same process as the rest of the UK. Further information can be found in the 2026 CT1 IMT Scotland Applicant Guide which will be available below at the beginning of October 2025.
  • Further details on changes to the IMT recruitment process can be found here on the PSRO website. 

ST1 Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery

  •  MSRA - longlisted applicants must undertake the Multi-Specialty Recruitment Assessment (MSRA). In 2026 the score from this will be used to analysis purposes only and not contribute to an applicant’s overall score.
  • Self-Assessment Scoring Criteria - there has been some changes to the criteria for 2026 so applicants should consult this prior to applying. 
  • Applicants should consult the 2026 ST1 T&O Applicant Guide for full details of the 2026 recruitment process for this specialty which will be available below at the beginning of October 2025.
