Will “linked applications” be honoured in the Scottish Foundation School?
In Scotland we allow linked applicants to express a preference to maintain a link in the process of being matched to a Group e.g. E01. All applicants will be allocated independently on the basis of their own PIA when being matched to a Programme e.g. E01004. Links will typically be honoured in the Group matching process if both applicants have listed exactly the same order of Group preference and there are sufficient vacancies for both applicants. The national algorithm will match a linked pair using the lower of the PIA of the two applicants. If the link is broken applicants will be allocated independently on the basis of their own PIA, please see more details on the PIA process and linking here.
Can we link our applications to a specific region e.g. East, but have different Group preferences depending upon our interests?
The Scottish Foundation School allocates applicants first to a Group e.g. E01 and then to a Programme e.g. E01004. Regional allocation (e.g. to the East region) is not part of the allocation process therefore it is not possible to link two applications to the level of region only. If linked applicants rank their Group preferences differently then their link will be broken and they will be allocated independently. This may result in them being allocated to different regions.
Can I link my application if applying for SFP or FPP?
Unfortunately linking is NOT possible when applying for SFP and FPP. Linking is only possible in the Foundation Programme (FP).
