The Scottish Foundation School, outing linng the information in an e-mail sfas@nes.scot.nhs.uk 

 

When is Shadowing and Induction? 

Shadowing and Induction arrangements will vary depending on the local employer (NHS Board) you are allocated to. 

Your local NHS Board will contact you with details and information of the induction and shadowing programme shadowing and induction dates.  

Please note that shadowing and induction is mandatory and do not arrange anytime off during this period.

 

When do I start my training? 

F1 doctors start work on the first Wednesday in August. 

 

GMC Provisional Registration?

All F1 doctors in training must hold a provisional licence to practice to take part in an approved Foundation Year 1 Programme in the UK. 

You can hold provisional registration for a maximum of 3 years and 30 days.  For more information please see the following link GMC provisional registration

 

Will there be any indication of which posts have out of hours and on-call opportunities (formerly referred to as 'Banding')? 

Financial supplements for out of hours duties and on-call arrangements are managed by the local employer and not an educational matter related to the Foundation School. Out of hours arrangement vary from Board to Board.

The Foundation School is concerned with the curriculum delivery; it does not have any involvement in determining out of hours and its remuneration.  

 

Will I have access to accommodation 

The Scottish Foundation School has no involvement in the arrangement of accommodation.

Who should I contact if I wish to work less than full time (LTFT)?

Will I be entitled to relocation expenses?

Can you give me Financial Advice/ Information on Bank Accounts?

The Scottish Foundation School is not qualified to provide financial advice.  It is recommended that you seek your own independent financial advice. 

Ensure you have a bank account before starting in Foundation training for your salary. This information is required as part of your pre-employment paperwork.

 

National Insurance Number?

To work in the UK, you will require a National Insurance Number (NI).  If you do not have one you will need to request one as soon as possible more information can be found here.
