Placeholders - Groups and Programmes
What is the Placeholder Group in Oriel and why does this Group and Programmes NOT contain Board and rotation details? What are these programmes and why are they on Oriel?
This Group and Programmes are still being finalised, and confirmation of employing board(s)/ hospital and rotations will be available once this work is complete. The placeholder programmes all have “PL” at the end of the programme reference on Oriel.
What happens, I am allocated to a Placeholder Group?
Anyone who is allocated to the Scottish Foundation School will be allocated to a Foundation Programme and the School Team will to confirm these programmes to you from approximately May 2025 onwards once the foundation school has finalised the programmes.
My allocated foundation school uses a group match processes and there is a group called 'placeholder'. Is this group confirmed?
The groups that are titled ‘placeholder’ contain programmes (rotations) which are still being finalised and the programmes within the group all have “PL” at the end of the programme reference number.
Do I need to preference placeholder groups or programmes or is it ok to ignore them?
Applicants should ensure that they are ranked at the bottom of their preference list.
Applicants don’t need to preference the placeholder groups or programmes. Applicants should either:
- ignore the placeholder groups or programmes, or
- ensure that they are ranked at the bottom of their preference list
This does not guarantee that an applicant will not be matched to one of these groups or programmes.
We would advise that applicants not to positively rank these groups/programmes any higher than at the bottom of their list because this will increase their chance of a match to one of these groups/programmes.
Might I be matched to one of these placeholder programmes? If so, how will this affect me and what happens next?
A small number of applicants in each foundation school may be allocated to a placeholder programme. All applicants who have been matched to a placeholder Group/Programme will be contacted by the Scottish Foundation School on Thursday 10 April with further details on next steps.
Applicants who have been allocated to a placeholder Group/Programme will be matched to a confirmed programme from approximately May 2025 onwards once the foundation school has finalised the programmes.
