Main Duties of Placement

Ward-based placement.

MOE assessment of new patients e.g. falls/cognition/continence.

Participate in consultant-led ward rounds and lead own ward rounds.

Participate in MDTs.

Typical Work Pattern

9am-5pm days with long days 9am-9pm approximately two times in a normal week. Approximately 1 in 8 weekend days 9am-5pm and also on HAN rota approximately once a month.

Learning Opportunities

Ward-based teaching.

Rapid rundown multidisciplinary meetings daily.

Teaching

Departmental teaching Monday lunchtime (1 hour).

Radiology meeting Thursday lunchtime (1 hour).

RIE FY2 teaching (1 hour).

Unique Selling Points

Great for working in a multidisciplinary team. Combines acute/general medicine and also wider assessment or elderly peoples' needs.
