|Main Duties of Placement||
Daily ward rounds on the Children's Ward and Special Care Baby Unit.
Assessment, diagnosis and management of GP and A+E paediatric referrals.
On-call bleep holder taking referrals/advice calls from GPs/A+E/Community Midwives/Health Visitors etc.
Newborn baby examination and review in post-natal ward.
Review of patients in the Planned Investigation Unit.
Paediatric phlebotomy, cannulation.
Assisting with paediatric/neonatal resuscitation.
|Typical Work Pattern||
Day shift 8am-4pm.
Late shift 12-8pm.
Night shift 8pm-8am.
Weekend shift 8am-8pm.
Ward-based teaching during ward rounds and review of patients in the assessment bay, often directly from the consultant.
FY2 teaching one hour once per week (mandatory).
Paediatric teaching once per week.
